Jonathan Beckett gained a Masters in Chemistry (MChem) from the University of Oxford in 2012, focusing on applications of chemistry to DNA sequencing, following which he became head of research for a small spin out company from the university as part of a major European Union project to sequence DNA from single cancer cells.
His interests now lie in mathematics and science and he lectures as part of the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust, as well as setting questions for the United Kingdom Mathematics Team challenges. The UKMT organises national mathematics competitions and other mathematical enrichment activities for 11-18 year old UK school pupils.
Each challenge leads into a follow-on Olympiad round and students are trained to represent the UK in the International Mathematical Olympiad. Jonathan teaches A level Mathematics and Chemistry at Oxford International College and stands as one of the most favourite tutors by the students. He also has a key role in assisting students with their university application and advising on universities and courses.
