Founded in 1614, University of Groningen is the second oldest educational institution in the Netherlands. Other research groups working in the fields of nanotechnology, molecular biology, medicine, neurology, sociology, philosophy, theology, architecture and art. The university`s graduates include a Nobel laureate, the first female professor in the Netherlands, the first Dutch astronaut and first president of the European Central Bank.
