A university component is the famous Warsash Maritime Academy which is recognized worldwide for its programs in navigation and maritime research and consultancy in the field of ecology and maritime affairs. Therefore, water sports are extremely popular among students, yachting team being among international champions in 2007. The Faculties of Engineering and IT provide an exceptional training and close collaboration with local companies and professional organizations such as the British Computer Society and PCT which allows 90% of graduates to achieve a professional career in max. 6 months from graduation.
